The Government imposed a requirement to lower labor costs

The secretary of Job, Julio Corderoconditioned a possible reduction in the labor cost associated with the taxes charged by the State to the maintenance of fiscal balance.

“Javier Milei is respecting the historic mandate given to him by the citizens to respect fiscal balances and lower inflation. It is a heroic act”said the official during the IDEA Colloquium that takes place in Mar del Plata.

“In this framework we accept receiving proposals to grow and have more goods and services,” said the secretary, making it clear that any initiative cannot be a unilateral tax reduction with a loss for the public coffers.

Cordero insisted that “The cost must be lowered but maintaining the pillars of lowering inflation and sustaining the surplus. Within this framework all proposals are received”.

Regarding the advancement of technology in the world of work, Cordero considered that the challenge is to put it “at the service of human beings” and stressed that “we cannot make mistakes.” “The question is how to integrate human beings into this new scenario,” said the official.

Julio Cordero: “Whether the situation improves now depends on trust”

The Secretary of Labor, Julio Corderoadmitted that there is a difficult social situation but blamed the previous government for the 52.9% poverty rate. Despite the adversities, he remained optimistic. “Everything is ready for economic growth to happen,” he stated but warned that “it depends on the confidence that we can transmit.”

“All Argentines are going through a complex situation that has been going on since before and that explains the poverty rates,” Cordero analyzed in relation to the high percentage of poverty reported by INDEC.

Despite this number, he stated, in line with the Ministry of Human Capital, that the situation would actually be improving. “The poverty measurements are taken in the first semester, so it is an average. The first three months it was much higher, the last ones it is going down“, he said in an interview on AM 750.

Labor reform: “The only way out of poverty is to work”

Cordero defended the labor reform undertaken by the Government and assured that “no rights are taken away from the worker.” On the contrary, “the theoretical goal is for all informal workers to become formal workers,” he stated as an objective. To explain this, he highlighted that “now the risk of hiring a person in a dependency relationship is zero.”

Regarding the category of “independent workers” he stated that “labor modernization allows you to have no risk in hiring a self-employed person.” It would be the new trend, preferred by the new generations. “The self-employed worker is accepted by the ILO and many young people want to work like that,” he stated.

In order to get out of the stagflation we are experiencing, he was reluctant to stimulate demand. “The growth of wealth is done with production – stated Cordero -. “If we invaded society with money today, we would only make things cost more.”. For this reason, it is against social plans or other mechanisms for direct income improvements. “The only way to get out of poverty is to work,” he concluded.
