The former Chilean soccer player Jorge Valdiviawho was a player for his country’s national team, Colo Colo and Palmeiraswas arrested early Tuesday morning for a complaint against him “for sexual crime”the prosecution said.
“We confirm that Jorge Valdivia will be formalized (…). He is currently detained”the prosecutor’s office reported, although it did not detail the crime for which he will be accused on Tuesday afternoon.
However, the prosecution had previously detailed that a “complaint for sexual crime” against the former player.
After the complaint became known, the 41-year-old former soccer player issued a communication in which he denies “clearly having sexually assaulted any person.”
He maintained that he maintained “a consensual relationship with an adult woman” and that he will collaborate with the prosecution to clarify the facts.

Valdiviawho retired from professional football in July 2022has worked as a sports commentator.
