Ski talent from Italy (19) dies after falling during training
The Italian Matilde Lorenzi dies after a training accident. She is only 19 years old. The Ministry of Defense and the winter sports association express their condolences.
The 19-year-old Italian ski racer Matilde Lorenzi has died after a fall in training. This was announced by the Italian Ministry of Defense. “The Ministry of Defense and Minister Guido Crosetto express their deep condolences to the family and colleagues of Private Matilde Lorenzi, a sports soldier and figurehead of Italian skiing, who tragically died as a result of a very serious accident during training,” wrote the ministry on platform X.
Young driver Lorenzi trained in Schnalstal in South Tyrol on Monday. She fell and was taken to the hospital in Bolzano by helicopter where she died from her injuries, the Ansa news agency reported. The Italian Winter Sports Federation also expressed its condolences to Lorenzi’s family, her friends “and all those who loved Matilde and will always remember her.”
