Surprising bankruptcy: Messi has to tremble with Miami
The eight-time world footballer imagined it differently. In the main round, Lionel Messi comfortably took first place with Miami, but now there could be a rude awakening in the playoffs.
After setting a record number of points in the main round, soccer world champion Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the North American MLS are threatened with a surprising exit in the first playoff round. The team from Florida lost the second game at Atlanta United 1:2 (1:0). This means the playoff will take place in Fort Lauderdale on November 10th. Miami won the first game 2-1.
The Portuguese Xande Silva, who had already tried unsuccessfully in the Premier League, scored the winning goal for Atlanta in the fourth minute of added time in front of 68,455 spectators. Derrick Williams (58th) had previously equalized Miami’s lead through Hector David Martinez (40th). Messi had a few chances but couldn’t make the difference this time.
Reus has moved on with LA Galaxy
Miami set a league record with 74 points in the main round. Atlanta, on the other hand, only managed 40 points and only slipped into the playoffs after qualifying against CF Montreal. Ex-German international Marco Reus had already managed to advance confidently with Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday.
