An accelerator specialized in Afro-descendant trends presents in Buenos Aires the “First Study on the Afro-entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Latin America”with cases and experiences of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Panama and Argentina.
The presentation of the work will take place next Tuesday, October 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) located in Paraguay 1583.
“This unpublished study aims to deepen the understanding of who Afropreneurs are, how they act, in which sectors they are inserted, the main challenges they face and the opportunities that can be explored,” detailed the drivers of the study. Also, they say, the similarities and specificities between Afro-entrepreneurial ecosystems in different countries will be analyzed.
This report results from an alliance between the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), PretaHub and Plan CDEwho have come together to analyze the ecosystem of Afro-descendant and African entrepreneurs in five countries in the region. This analysis was carried out together with local collaborators Minga Cooperative, Matambas LBTQ+, Ebony.
Preta Hub is an accelerator focused on “black entrepreneurship” in Brazil, which acts as a “hub of creativity, innovation and Afro-descendant trends.”

As detailed in the prelude to the presentation of the report, this investigation seeks “value the traditional knowledge of these populations as a source of income generation, as well as highlight the use of technologies and innovation and highlight the central role of women as drivers of sustainable development.”
Who will participate in the event?
The meeting will bring together specialists, community leaders, academics, government agencies, companies, entrepreneurs, media and representatives of international organizations, in order to discuss and propose solutions to strengthen entrepreneurship of Afro-descendant and African people in Latin America.
The organizers of the event reported that in the first part The data resulting from the study will be presented and then a group of invited panelists will present their comments and perceptions in panels.
The welcome and first presentations will be in charge of Christian Asinelli, vice Corporate President of CAF Strategic Programming; Ana BaiardiCAF Gender Inclusion and Diversity Manager; Luis ScassoDirector OEI Argentina, and Adriana Barbosa, Executive Director Feira Preta Institute.
