Formula 1 exit for Michael Schumacher’s son? Mick shares emotional statement
Mick Schumacher will not drive for Audi. His return to Formula 1 is more questionable than ever. For him, just “one chapter,” as he now announced.
He won’t get into an Audi. Mick Schumacher has been trying to make a comeback for around two years. But the prospects for the test and reserve driver at Mercedes are bleak. He was transferred three times and three times he failed to get a seat in the premier class again. Whether that will change is unlikely.
“This is just a chapter”
It seems as if the son of racing legend Michael Schumacher has come to terms with his fate. He shared an emotional statement that reads like a farewell. He wrote: “Life doesn’t always go as planned, and setbacks can be hard to cope with. But every challenge is an opportunity to learn, grow and emerge stronger. This is just one chapter. The journey continues, and I “I’m determined to overcome it. Thank you all for your support, it means a lot to me.”
Most recently, Audi decided against Mick and gave the last free cockpit for the 2025 season to the 20-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto. Next season he will make his debut alongside Nico Hülkenberg. “For Mick, the topic of Formula 1 is unfortunately rather unrealistic, unless someone is unavailable due to illness,” said his uncle Ralf Schumacher on “Sky”, “Formula 1 is a crazy business.”
Schumacher competed in Formula 1 races a total of 43 times. From this he was only able to get 12 championship points. He most recently took part in the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after which Mercedes signed him as a test and reserve driver.
Future uncertain – but there are options for Mick Schumacher
What happens next for Mick is unclear. Even his uncle apparently isn’t sure. “The question is, who will be the reserve driver and where? Or will he now concentrate on his long-distance career,” said Ralf Schumacher in an interview with the TV channel “Sky”.

Most recently, Mick was able to score points again and again for Alpine in the Long Distance World Championship. So perhaps a contract extension would be an option there. TV expert for the premier class Christian Danner said in an interview with “Ran” that Schumacher could also drive the Indycar in the USA. It remains to be seen which “chapter” Schumacher opens next.
