Germany vs. Hungary: How to watch the last international match of the year on TV

Germany will face Hungary in the Nations League on Tuesday. And wants to say goodbye to the 2024 international match year successfully. The game is running live on free TV.

In Budapest, the DFB selection will take on Hungary in the Nations League on Tuesday evening. The Germans can arrive without much pressure as they are already group winners thanks to their fantastic 7-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday.

That’s why Julian Nagelsmann also wants to make changes in some positions. He doesn’t see any risk of a drop in performance as a result. “I can determine the squad so that there are always two top teams on the field, even if we rotate ten times,” said the national coach before the departure to Hungary for the end of the year.

The DFB team will face Hungary for the 40th time. The legendary 3-2 win at the 1954 World Cup triumph in Bern will remain in our memories forever. In the recent past, the Hungarians have become unwelcome long-term opponents. Germany was unable to win several times, for example at the 2021 European Championship (2:2) or in the last edition of the Nations League (1:1/0:1).

But this year things went better again. In the European Championship group stage there was a 2-0 win in Stuttgart, followed in September by a 5-0 win for Nagelsmann’s team in Düsseldorf. Overall, from a German perspective, the balance is: 15 wins, 12 draws and 12 defeats.

The Nagelsmann team now wants to expand on their positive balance in the Nations League. The game against Hungary on Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m. will be broadcast live on ZDF and streamed in the ZDF media library. Anyone who is on the go can also follow the game via the ARD info radios (for example NDR Info, HR Info).

What’s next for the DFB team?

Germany is first in group three in League A and, like the permanent runners-up from the Netherlands, will take part in the first knockout round in March. However, another meeting with Oranje is out of the question. The German opponent will be a runner-up from a different group.

The draw will take place on Friday. Hungary is already third in the table before the game against Nagelsmann’s team and will play against a runner-up team from the B league in March to stay in the league. Bosnia-Herzegovina has been relegated to the B league.
