DFB eleven in the quarter-finals
This is how things continue in the Nations League
The German national team has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Nations League. The possible opponents for the knockout phase have now been determined.
Even before the last game in the group phase of the Nations League against Hungary, the German national team was already confirmed as group winner. This means that the DFB team is firmly qualified for the quarter-finals. One of the runners-up from the other groups is waiting there. Since Monday evening it has also been clear who Germany could face.
Croatia and Denmark were the last teams to secure a ticket to the knockout phase. A 1-1 draw against group winners Portugal was enough for the Croatians. Denmark defended second place with a 0-0 draw against direct rivals Serbia. Italy had previously missed out on winning group two after a defeat against France.
The further timetable in the Nations League
The draw will take place on Friday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. In addition to the runners-up in the group and the German team, France, Portugal and Spain qualified. The quarter-finals will take place on March 20th and 23rd. The first leg will be the first international match of the new year for the German team. This will be followed by a final tournament with the last four remaining teams (June 4th to 8th), which could also take place in Germany.

The last game against Hungary no longer has any sporting significance for the DFB team. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team has been group winners for a long time after convincing games and could complete the group phase without a defeat for the first time. There was only a draw against the Netherlands, the remaining games were won.
The group leaders in the Nations League are also in draw pot one for qualification for the 2026 World Cup and can therefore hope for at least theoretically easier opponents. Qualification for the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the USA also starts in March 2025.
