Homophobic statements: Schumacher criticizes “the style”

The father of Formula 1 driver Sergio Pérez is fed up with the criticism of his son. In doing so, he makes a mistake. Ralf Schumacher even shows understanding.

Former Formula 1 driver and current TV expert Ralf Schumacher has countered homophobic comments made by the father of Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez. “I would also stand behind my son 100% and try to help. That’s what you do as a father,” wrote Schumacher, who made his homosexuality public in the summer, on social media.

As far as the style is concerned, it would be different, “but we know Mr. Perez with all his emotions. That’s why I’m not angry with him,” Schumacher continued. From his point of view, however, “results on the track would be the better arguments.”

The brother of Formula 1 record world champion Michael Schumacher and father of a son has repeatedly criticized the poor Sergio Perez on the TV channel Sky in the past. Recently he even doubted whether the Mexican would even be allowed to finish the season for world champion Max Verstappen’s racing team.

Perez’s father uses a wrong tone

Antonio Pérez Garibay commented on the constant criticism of his son in a podcast on the TV channel ESPN a week ago, but he did not mention the name Ralf Schumacher. “There is a driver who was in Formula 1 and is now a journalist who first stated that Checo was already out of Red Bull and then came out in the weeks afterwards. I don’t know if he was in love with Checo,” said Pérez Sr., whose son’s nickname is Checo.

“There are a lot of strange things,” he continued, “and you don’t know whether he is a journalist, whether he is a woman or a man,” but his word is doubted.
