International Day of the Word: why it commemorates November 23

Each November 23 commemorates the International Word Day. Not only as the mere act of communication but to strengthen and give relevance to communication, dialogue and peace between the nations of the world, tending towards a peaceful advancement of society without political or religious discrimination.

Therefore, the word is key when it comes to understanding, this being the only peaceful way to resolve conflicts and bring the parties closer together, forging an exemplary path for future generations. This anniversary arose through a non-profit foundation, known as César Egido Serrano.

What is the origin of the International Day of the Word

The creation of this commemorative date arose at the initiative of the César Egido Serrano Foundation, which was based on the importance of dialogue as an indispensable tool for the eradication of any manifestation of violence and to raise awareness in society about this precept.

In this way, the foundation submitted the proposal to the United Nations Organization. The choice of the date is due to the inauguration of the Museum of the Word, located in the province of Toledo, in Spain.

How to celebrate International Word Day

The initiatives preferred by the Egido Serrano foundation have to do with interaction and the search for promote dialogue and the use of the word. One way to participate is to be an ambassador of the word in the city of residence, convening friends, family, and people who agree in promoting the word as a way to eradicate violence and improve communication.
