Heroes. That select group of people who served the country through their actions. It is these figures that left an indelible mark on the argentine history. However, in addition to their milestones on the battlefield or through politics, some of them had a great fortune at the time of his death.
One of those cases was that of José Justo Urquiza (1801-1870), Argentine military man and politician. Through work carried out by the Argentine economic historian Julio Djenderedjian and the Capital Markets specialist Mariano Otálora, specific numbers could be determined and a conversion made to the value of the current peso.

Who was Justo José de Urquiza
Justo José de Urquiza is one of the most important names in Argentine history. Cataloged as a hero, he was governor of the province of Entre Ríos on three occasions. The first period was from 1842 to 1852, the second from 1860 to 1864 and the last from 1868 to 1870, the year in which he died.
In between, he also managed to be in charge of Foreign Relations of the Argentine Confederation and governor of Buenos Aires (1852). One of his great milestones was his time as Pension Director of the Argentine Confederation (the last predecessor State of the current Argentine Republic) and its subsequent rise to the presidencywhere he served between 1854 and 1860.
On the other hand, it was leader of the Federal Party and in 1852 he led the Large Army with which he defeated Juan Manuel de Rosas in the battle of Caseros, which put an end to his 17 years of government.
After losing the 1868 elections against the unitary candidate, Domingo Faustino SarmientoUrquiza returned to be governor of Entre Ríos. Two years later, to celebrate the end of the Paraguayan War, he decided invite Sarmiento to the San José Palace. This was taken as a betrayal by the federals, who retaliated.
In a coordinated movement, a group of federals led by Ricardo López Jordán broke into the palace to overthrow Urquiza, who decided to escape and resist. However, their attempts were in vain. Once it was reached, the feds shot him in cold blood and then stabbed him.
The family heritage of Justo José de Urquiza
According to the records of Otálora, Urquiza’s heritage was $5,436,923. Likewise, Djenderedjian confirmed that the currency that constituted his assets was the Bolivian pesos. A conversion by this last specialist determined that they were or$d119,685,490.
Its rural heritage included 923,125 hectareswith an average of 1842 sheep, 432 cattle and 116 mares per square league. In other words, Urquiza was considered one of the greatest rural businessmen in the River Plate universe.
