Kompany on Kane injury: “It’s going to be tight” for the Leverkusen game

How is Harry Kane? FC Bayern’s star striker has to be substituted early in the top game at Borussia Dortmund. Coach Vincent Kompany doesn’t expect him in the cup against champions Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany expects star striker Harry Kane to miss the top cup game against champions Bayer Leverkusen. “Of course it will be close,” said Kompany after the 1-1 (0-1) draw at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening.

The English striker was substituted after just over half an hour due to a thigh injury. “I don’t know so many players who recover so quickly in such a short time,” said Kompany, who doesn’t believe he’ll be out for a longer period of time.

“He noticed that there was something in his thigh, but he also said it wasn’t bad,” reported Bayern sports director Max Eberl. More precise statements could only be made on Sunday or Monday.

Kane fell on the pitch in the first half when the score was 0-1 and immediately indicated that something was wrong. Thomas Müller came on for Kane. “If you’re 1-0 behind in Dortmund, you don’t sit down unless there’s something really worse,” said Müller on Sky.
