For more than 15 years, PEISA, a national company of the FV Group, has become a key ally for life in the Argentine bases in Antarctica.
In one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet, where temperatures can drop to -30°C, where the night seems to last for months and the day is just a brief respite, a few human beings defy nature in the Argentine bases in Antarctica. And, although it may seem incredible, that small group of adventurers can turn on their heating, open the shower and feel how the hot water falls on them like a caress that they did not imagine possible in that desolate corner.

Who is behind this little miracle of comfort? None other than PEISA, the Argentine company that heats and provides hot water to Antarctic bases.
The challenge of heating the End of the World
The premise was clear: make the equipment work. Because in Antarctica, where the cold is merciless and resources are limited, there is no possibility of error.
“In these extreme conditions, each piece of equipment must be a model of quality and robustness,” explains the engineer Ignacio GentilePEISA Engineering Manager. “At the bases there is no service, no spare parts, no help on the way. A broken heating equipment could leave the scientists and technicians at the bases in a life or death situation. Therefore, every component, every adjustment, every detail in our systems is designed to withstand the unthinkable, to always function in even the most hostile conditions.

For PEISA, this challenge not only means a demonstration of reliability, but also an opportunity for continuous improvement. “What we learn there, we apply here,” says Gentile. “The experience accumulated in Antarctica becomes the quality support for our home products. That is why we say: ‘If we heat the Antarctic bases, imagine what we can do in your house.'”
PEISA knows that Antarctica is no place for half-promises: Every piece of the system must work with Swiss, or better yet, Argentinian precision.
A national company that embraced the challenge
But why did an Argentine heating company embark on such a challenge? PEISA has a history of more than 45 years, and for 7 years it has had the protection of the FV Group. This means that it produces in the most modern plant in Latin America, with international quality standards.

For Francisco KleinPEISA Sales Manager, the presence in Antarctica represents something closely linked to the Group’s values: “Heating the most hostile climate on the planet is proof of the potential of the Argentine industry and a great source of pride. We assume the commitment to always be one step ahead in technology and efficiency,” says Klein.
Energy efficiency and resilience
PEISA equipment is not only created to withstand everything and provide heat without rest, but at the same time they do so with an efficiency that seems to defy the laws of physics. In a place where energy is a scarce resource, PEISA has managed to ensure that its equipment minimizes consumption without sacrificing comfort.. “Our heating systems are designed to perform at their maximum with minimum consumption – says Gentile -. In Antarctica, energy efficiency is a vital necessity.”
The national industry at the ends of the world
PEISA’s presence in Antarctica is not only a reflection of its technical capacity. Beyond the machines, there is something deeply symbolic about this feat. It is a declaration that in Argentina you can do big things, and really big ones. It is the embrace of a nation to those who, in the distance, represent the dreams of science and exploration of all Argentines.
