Argentina adjusts conditions to export beef to the US

He Ministry of Economythrough the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, issued Resolution 110/2024 that regulates an annual tariff quota of 20,000 tons of boneless, chilled or frozen beef destined for the United States. The regulations will come into force on January 1, 2025with the aim of optimizing distribution criteria and streamlining procedures for exporters.

The quota, allocated under the framework of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), will continue to be based on the Export Performance (DE), measured by the FOB value of exports. This system, which has proven effective in fully utilizing the quota, is now complemented by measures to reduce bureaucracy.

Among the new features, Unnecessary requirements are eliminated and quota advances are enabled for companies that pass the documentary evaluationsthus guaranteeing operational continuity while the award processes are finalized.

Deadlines and requirements to access the quota

  • Registration start: the day after the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette.
  • Duration: 10 consecutive days.
  • Mode: Interested exporters must manage their request through the TAD (Distance Procedures) platform under the procedure “Request to access an export license – Meat quota to the United States. Cycle 2025”.

Strengthening international competitiveness

This regulatory update is a key step in the Argentina’s international insertion strategy. It seeks to consolidate strategic markets such as the United States and align standards with initiatives such as the Hilton Quota in the European Union, guaranteeing coherence and quality in export policies.
