Salzburg suffered its fifth defeat in the premier class with a 3-0 defeat against PSG

Red Bull Salzburg had to admit defeat to Paris Saint Germain.
Alexander Schlager had to reach behind him three times.

On Tuesday, the Bulls suffered a 3-0 (0-1) home defeat against Paris Saint-Germain’s star squad and are now at least four points away from the top 24 with two games to go. For Pep Lijnders’ team it was the fifth defeat in their sixth premier class appearance.

Last year’s semi-finalist PSG achieved a deserved and important victory thanks to goals from Goncalo Ramos (30th), Nuno Mendes (72nd) and Desire Doue (85th). Coach Luis Enrique’s team, which had been weak in the CL so far, only had to be accused of not scoring more goals and initially worked its way up to 24th place. Salzburg’s faint hope of being able to benefit from the French’s winless streak (1 CL defeat, 2 draws in Ligue 1) was clearly disappointed.

Finally twice against the big Madrid clubs

The last two CL tasks for Salzburg are no less difficult. Defending champions Real Madrid are waiting away on January 22nd, and David Alaba could be there again. A week later, Real’s city rivals Atletico come to Austria.

Oscar Gloukh and Co. acted in front of 25,000 spectators in Wals-Siezenheim, as they did recently, with two sixes in the midfield, behind them they chose – once again – a new variant: Amar Dedic moved into the defensive center alongside Samson Baidoo due to injuries, and he played last on the outside Actually offensively conspicuous Nicolas Capaldo and Daouda Guindo. Defense was also the key word. PSG around Bradley Barcola let the ball circulate at will and was rarely put under pressure by the home team. Goalie Alexander Schlager was therefore the most noticeable Salzburg player, he prevented the 0-1 (10th) early on with a double chance against Achraf Hakimi and Ramos.
