Thomas Müller gives Vincent Kompany interview tutoring

Thomas Müller is as popular as he is feared by television presenters because of his humorous answers. After FC Bayern’s 5-1 win in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk, the 35-year-old was once again in a good mood.

Together with Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, Müller answered questions from Amazon Prime presenter Alex Schlüter after the final whistle. After the game was discussed, Schlüter looked ahead and asked Kompany: “Where are we headed?” The Belgian had to think for a moment and asked back: “Which trip?”

Müller immediately jumped in and jokingly added: “The return journey.” Kompany also noticed that this couldn’t be meant entirely seriously. “My German sense of humor isn’t quite there yet, but it’s still coming,” added the Bayern coach, who has been working at Säbener Straße since this season, apologetically.

It’s good that he has an experienced player in his squad, Thomas Müller, who can also help with interviews. “It was a very substantive question,” the offensive man explained to his coach. “He wanted to know if we wanted to win the Champions League.” Müller immediately provided the answer: “Yes, we want that, but there is still a long way to go.”

Moderator Alex Schlüter couldn’t resist a tip: “Mr. Müller, if you have better questions, you’re welcome at any time.” But when Schlüter then asked the coach his next question, Müller whispered to expert Christoph Kramer, who was also in the group – and the moderator jokingly threatened: “If you now evaluate every question I ask…” Müller preferred to do so quickly on the way to the cabin.

The 35-year-old is no longer in the front row at FC Bayern, but was allowed to play again from the start against Donetsk in the Schalke Arena. He promptly scored the important goal to make it 2-1 just before half-time, which put Bayern on course for victory. In the summer, Müller announced his resignation from the national team after 131 international matches.
