Burglary in Rummenigge villa: loot probably worth 250,000 euros
Former Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was apparently broken into. The thieves are said to have stolen cash and jewelry of high value from the 69-year-old’s villa.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s everyday life is actually no longer as turbulent as it was a few years ago as Bayern boss. However, an incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday evening that may have caused the 69-year-old a lot of stress. According to a media report, Rummenigge’s Munich villa was broken into.
According to the “Bild” newspaper, the building’s alarm system went off at 7:40 p.m. The police then quickly drove to the crime scene. According to the officials, the burglars had previously forced their way into the villa through a balcony door. After gaining access, the thieves searched the rooms – and found what they were looking for.
They are said to have stolen cash and jewelry worth 250,000 euros during the break-in. When the police arrived, the perpetrators were already gone. Commissariat 53 (burglary offenses) in Munich is now investigating the perpetrators.
Rummenigge is not the first victim
If the police catch the thieves, they could face a prison sentence. “Theft from a home is the only theft that is a crime and is punished with a minimum sentence of one year,” said lawyer Dr. Adam Ahmed told the “Bild” newspaper. “I assume the burglars will go to prison.”
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is not the first Bayern official to be broken into. In 2017, thieves stole a safe from Oliver Kahn’s villa. And Bayern players were also victims of break-ins. An alarm was triggered in Thomas Müller’s villa near Miesbach (Bavaria) in September 2022.
The police are currently looking for witnesses in the Rummenigge case. Anyone who made suspicious observations in the area of Perlacher Straße, Eichleite, Südliche Münchner Straße (Grünwald) at the time of the break-in that could be related to the theft should contact the investigators.
