Biathletes take their first relay victory in four years
Things are currently going well for the German biathletes. In Hochfilzen they got two wins and two more podium places. Franziska Preuß is also in the yellow jersey.
With their first relay victory in almost four years, the German biathletes ensured an outstanding conclusion to the World Cup in Hochfilzen, Austria. Vanessa Voigt, Julia Tannheimer, Selina Grotian and Franziska Preuß prevailed in an exciting race with France after final runner Preuß put her direct competitor Lou Jeanmonnot in their place in the last shooting.
“All three girls in front of me did a great job, then I didn’t want to mess up, super cool. It was a cool day for all four of us today,” said Preuß on ZDF.
Her three teammates also showed very strong performances and ensured the team’s first success since January 16, 2021 in Oberhof. Preuss even had time to cross the finish line with the German flag before it fell into the arms of Voigt, Tannheimer and Grotian. In the end, the German ski hunters were 1:05.7 minutes ahead of France, with third place going to the Swedes. The German quartet only needed four spares. In the first season in Kontiolahti, Germany only managed seventh place.

The ski hunters thus ended the second stage of the season with Preuß’ sprint victory and Voigt and Preuß’ second and third places in the pursuit. The 30-year-old Preuß is also heading to the last World Cup of the year next week in Le Grand-Bornand, France, as the overall World Cup leader.
