ARCA: the former AFIP may disable credit cards for taxpayers who do not meet these requirements

This new modification will target ARCA taxpayers who are classified as unreliable.

In October the Government of Javier Milei dissolved the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) and created the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) to replace it. This, as a reductionist measure of the State and public spending, and to speed up the bureaucratic movements of the entity.

After the transfer, ARCA inherited all responsibilities that the AFIP had, and with this came several modifications to the tax system by which the entity was governed. They recently notified that they will begin to inspect and limit credit card movementsoy debit that there are taxpayers who are in a specific list.

Who can ARCA disable credit cards?

Through Communication A 8144/2024, ARCA and the Central Bank reported that they will prohibit banks and processing platforms from using plastics whose CUIT is included in the untrustworthy taxpayers. This includes holders of credit cards and debit that meet any of the following conditions:

  • Tax inconsistencies
  • Lack of supporting documentation
  • Impossibility to verify the legitimacy of operations.

Until the irregularities are clarified, You will not be able to make payments or receive charges.
