Australian tennis player Max Purcell provisionally suspended

Australian tennis player Max Purcell voluntarily undergoes an interim suspension under the anti-doping program. This was announced by the responsible International Tennis Integrity Agency (Itia).
The 26-year-old Purcell, who won the US Open final this year in doubles with compatriot Jordan Thompson against the German duo Kevin Krawietz/Tim Pütz, admitted a violation relating to the use of a prohibited method, wrote Itia in a statement Opinion. The Australian requested an interim ban that came into effect on December 12, 2024.
During this time, Purcell will not be allowed to participate in or attend any official tennis tournaments. The time he serves under the provisional ban will be counted towards the possible final sanction.
