Steel production fell 25% in the year

It was reported by the Argentine chamber of the sector. In November it fell 5.9% compared to the previous month and 18.1% in the interannual comparison.

Steel production registered a drop of 5.9% in November, compared to the previous month, reported the Argentine Chamber of the sector. In the accumulated of the year, the drop reaches 25% compared to the same period in 2023.

The report noted that, at a total of 338,500 tons, steel production decreased by 18.1% in November, compared to the same month last year.

For its part, Laminate production was 332,100 tons, which represented a drop of 27.7% year-on-year and 1.4% month-on-month.

Regarding the activity of the steel-demanding sectors, in the construction sector, cement shipments in November fell 3% compared to October and a drop of 15% compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the automotive sector, production in November registered an increase of 2.4% compared to October and a decrease of 5.1% compared to the same month last year. Comparing the eleven months of 2024 with respect to 2023, a decrease of 18.3% was recorded.

On the other hand, patents decreased by 20% compared to October and 2% compared to the same month of the previous year, accumulating a decrease of 9% so far this year.

Meanwhile, the agricultural machinery and implements sector continues with good prospects for the wheat harvest, first results show a higher yield than the previous season. Dispatch levels to geographic areas of energy activity remain stable, with favorable expectations for 2025.
