Netflix released a special preview of Happy Gilmore 2 as a christmas gift for fans. The trailer doesn’t offer much information about the upcoming sequel Adam Sandlerbut includes brief previews of returning characters and new cameos.
In the short trailer, we see Gilmore (Sandler) return to participate in a golf tournament. We also have quick shots of Travis Kelce and Bad Bunnyas well as short scenes with Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonaldthe latter two of whom reprise their roles from the original 1996 film.
The original film starred Sandler as Happy Gilmore, a hockey player with anger management issues who discovers he’s also good at golf. Gilmore enters a golf tournament to win money and save his grandmother’s house, confronting the arrogant Shooter McGavin along the way. The film also starred Carl Weathers, Bob Barker and Ben Stiller, in a role that he will repeat in the sequel.
In addition to Adam Sandler, Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce, Happy Gilmore 2 will also feature Margaret Qualley. Qualley recently revealed that her role was given to her by her husband Jack Antonoffwho lied to Sandler by telling him that she was a good golfer: “What a good husband. And I can’t play golf. He lied for the good of the family… I never played golf in my life. “I’m terrible, actually.”
He went on to say that the role was “the best thing that ever happened to me.” He added: “I basically come from humble origins, but now I can die happy.”
Eminem’s cameo in Happy Gilmore 2
It has also been confirmed that Eminem will have a “demented” cameo, according to Sandler himself. While Sandler did not reveal the role Eminem plays or the extent of the rapper’s involvement in the film’s plot, he said, “Eminem was great. He came and he was great. I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came and it was a lot of fun“.
Sandler continued: “I think we spent a day with Eminem and he just kept shooting and shooting and he was crazy. He said a million things we can use and a million things we’re glad to have on record.”
A release date for Happy Gilmore 2 has yet to be announced, but will arrive in 2025 exclusively through Netflix.
