Cars: what are the best-selling models in Brazil in 2024

2024 was marked by strong sales growth in the second half of the year, which boosted vehicle production to a higher level than initially planned.

When comparing the second half of the year with the first half of the year, production grew by 26.2%, patenting by 32% and exports by 44.2%.

“Normally the second semester is harder, but this year we have had a fantastic second semester, the best in the last ten years, after a start to the year with some problems, such as strikes in public organizations, floods in Rio Grande do Sul, inter alia. As a result, Brazil grew the most among the world’s main markets. We hope to start the year at this accelerated pace and make 2025 the last step before returning to the level of 3 million units sold,” said President Márcio de Lima Leite.

Starting in June, there was a significant increase in the pace of vehicle sales, reaching an average of 13.3 thousand units per day in November, the highest in 10 years.

So, 2024 should close with 2,650,000 registered vehicles, an increase of 15% compared to 2023. There will be around 130 thousand units missing to exceed the total of 2019, the last year before the pandemic.

In the heavy segment, trucks had an excellent performance, with an estimated increase of 15%, while buses are expected to close with a growth of 8.5%.

For next year, ANFAVEA projects sales of 2,802 million vehicles, an increase of 5.6% compared to 2024.

In the division by large segments, an increase of 5.8% is expected for automobiles and light commercial vehicles, and 2.1% for heavy vehicles.

Regarding the ranking of best-selling models, there is a tough fight between the Fiat Strada pickup and the VW Polo. The first has 139,900 patented units in the accumulated year, while the German hatchback totals 138,200. It seems difficult for it to be able to close the difference since in December, although it is above the Italian brand’s model, the margin is very narrow.

Third place goes to the Chevrolet Onix, with 94,400 units, while the Hyundai HB20 accumulates 92,400 operations.

The “top five” is completed by the Volkswagen T-Cross, with 82,200 vehicles sold between January and the end of December.
