Detroit Lions get revenge in San Francisco

The Detroit Lions are having the best season in their history. They won against the San Francisco 49ers for the first time since 1975. Amon-Ra St. Brown also sets a record.

The Detroit Lions, led by German-American wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, won away from home against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL for the first time in almost 50 years. The Lions won 40:34 (13:21) thanks to a comeback in the second half.

The team from Detroit has the chance to make it into the playoffs as the top seed in the NFC for the first time in its history. Next weekend there will be a direct duel against division rivals Minnesota Vikings on the final main round matchday. Both teams have 14 wins and only two defeats this season.

St. Brown with 12th touchdown of the season

In San Francisco, the Lions also avenged their loss in the NFC title game last playoff season. At that time, the 49ers around quarterback Brock Purdy narrowly prevailed and reached the Super Bowl against the eventual winners Kansas City Chiefs.

Once again, San Francisco started strong and was ahead in the first half after an almost perfect Purdy performance. But the Lions showed their class, especially after the break, quarterback Jared Goff threw a total of three touchdown passes, in which St. Brown played a decisive role twice. In the first half, the pass receiver passed a ball from Goff directly to Jameson Williams, who was then able to run into the end zone.

In the final minute of the third quarter, St. Brown caught his 12th touchdown pass of the season to give the Lions their first lead of the game, which would ultimately last until the end. The 25-year-old pass recipient extended his personal record. St. Brown caught a total of eight throws for 60 yards and is one of the best three pass receivers in the NFL in the three most important statistics.
