Riiber reported back with eighth win of the season

After the first day of the Seefeld triple in the Nordic Combined, the Norwegian is clearly at the top. In his first outing this year, he triumphed clearly ahead of German Vinzenz Geiger and Tyrolean World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter. Cross-country skiing was started according to the order of Thursday’s preliminary round, yesterday too strong wind prevented jumping.

Riiber went into the cross-country ski run with a lead of almost a minute and left nothing to chance on the 7.5 kilometers on the way to his eighth win of the season in the World Cup. Lamparter was satisfied nonetheless. “It’s my first podium in Austria, I’ll enjoy it and soak it up,” said the 20-year-old world champion, who is a hot contender for a medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics after his eighth podium finish this season. Lamparter, whose lead over Riiber in the overall standings has shrunk to 80 points, sees potential for improvement in jumping.
