German games on free TV: How to watch the 2025 Handball World Cup

The 2025 Handball World Cup begins on January 14th, and the DHB team starts the tournament one day later. All German games are shown on free TV. Other games can also be seen free of charge.

After the silver medal at the Olympics last year, coach Alfred Gislason’s team is competing with confidence at the 2025 Handball World Championship in Croatia, Norway and Denmark. On the second day of the World Cup, the German team starts the tournament against the selection from Poland.

Gislason sees his team as the clear favorites in the group. “The goal is of course to win the group. I consider us to be the strongest team, without question,” said the 65-year-old Icelander confidently. “That may sound arrogant, but that’s how I see it.”

The channels then alternate. ZDF will show the duel with Switzerland on Friday, January 17th at 8:30 p.m. And ARD will broadcast the last group game against the Czech Republic on Sunday, January 19th. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
