Comeback after 12 years
Coach David Moyes returns to Everton FC
In the search for a new coach, Everton FC has hired an old friend. Under David Moyes, the Liverpool club enjoyed a successful period at the beginning of the millennium.
David Moyes is the new coach of Everton FC. The 61-year-old is returning to his old place of work at the Goodison Park stadium twelve years after his departure. The Scottish coach takes over from Sean Dyche, who was given leave by the new club owners on Thursday three hours before kick-off of a cup game. “It’s great to be back,” Moyes said in a club statement.
Successful past with Moyes
Moyes had recently coached West Ham United for four and a half years and had been without a job since last summer. He previously coached Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland. However, his most successful time was from 2002 to 2013 at Everton FC, which he led to Champions League qualification in 2005 and the cup final in 2009.
When Moyes returns to Goodison Park, however, the fight to stay in the league awaits him. As table 16th. Everton is just one point away from the relegation places. The Toffees have won just one of their last eleven league games and remained goalless eight times.
