Indianapolis Colts host NFL game in Berlin
The Indianapolis Colts will play an NFL game in Berlin in 2025. For the football team this means a return to Germany. The league is still determining the opponent.
The Indianapolis Colts return to Germany.
Two years after their guest appearance in the National Football League (NFL) in Frankfurt, the team will play the regular season game in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium next season, as Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of NFL Germany, announced.
“We are excited to have an extremely passionate team in Germany. Germany is an important market for the NFL as the fan base and passion for the game continues to grow.”
Berlin will experience its premiere as a venue for the American professional league in the second half of the year. Up to three games will take place in the capital in the collaboration, which is scheduled to run until 2029.
The Colts were already guests in Frankfurt in November 2023. At that time they won their game against the New England Patriots 10:6.
NFL selects opponents for the Colts
Nine teams are possible opponents of the Colts. In addition to the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons could also compete in Berlin. The opponent will be announced as soon as the NFL publishes the schedule for the coming season in the spring.
According to the Senate, the NFL deal will cost Berlin 12.5 million euros.
