Viral video: Fan harasses woman in stadium and gets fired
A video of an American football fan insulting a woman during a game is spreading online. His behavior has far-reaching consequences for the man.
It’s not unusual for things to get a little rough in the stands at major sporting events (at least verbally) – and for some it’s probably just part of it. But a scene from the stadium of the Philadelphia Eagles football team seems unpleasant just to watch.
The setting is the NFL game between the Eagles and the Green Bay Packers, with the main character being a male fan of the home team. In the video you can see how the man, wearing an Eagles jacket, repeatedly leans towards a young woman who is apparently a fan of the opposing team. He leans towards her, gets uncomfortably close to her, insults her.
What it’s like going to Philly just trying to root for your team…
Unprovoked, uncalled for. Packers twitter, help me out and find this guy…. this is not okay
I hate that my fiancé had this happen simply cheering for her team pic.twitter.com/aiHCKzxrSS

Alexander Basara, the woman’s fiancé and her companion at the football game, published the video on
“What it’s like to come to Philadelphia to support our team,” he wrote. He and his fiancée did not provoke the man, emphasizes Basara, and calls on the community to find the Eagles fan: “That’s not okay. I hate that this happened to my fiancée just because she was for her team cheered.”
Basara also told NBC television that he initially had a normal conversation with the man. “But then he started saying the same things over and over again. It got worse and worse during the game.” The mood was “hostile”. His fiancée said the man told her she wasn’t good-looking enough to talk to him.
Fans are no longer allowed into the stadium
The video from Lincoln Financial Field spread quickly on social networks (more than 30 million views), the anger of many fans was great, and the man was indeed quickly identified. His behavior has far-reaching consequences for him. According to NBC, his team, the Philadelphia Eagles, has banned him from the stadium for life. Possibly even worse: his employer, a consulting firm from New Jersey, also became aware of the video and fired the man just two days after the game. His behavior was “abhorrent, disgusting, unacceptable and appalling,” it said in a statement.
