What David Lynch died of

Although the family has not made official the reasons that led to the death of David Lynchsince 2020 he was diagnosed with emphysemaa chronic lung disease that damages the alveoli and makes breathing difficult. The director was known for being a regular tobacco user and it was not even until 2022 that he stopped smoking.

“I have had emphysema from smoking for so long and therefore I am housebound whether I like it or not. It would be very bad for me to get sick, even with a cold,” the director born in Missoula, Montana, revealed in August 2024.

In the same conversation with the specialized magazine Sight and Soundnoted: “Smoking was something I loved, but in the end it hurt me”. “It was part of my life as an artist: the smell of tobacco, lighting it, smoking and sitting and looking at my work or thinking about things, nothing in this world is so beautiful. And now it’s killing me. Leaving it is difficult,” he concluded.
