What Mickey 17 is about
Based on the novel Mickey7 of Edward Ashtonthe film follows Mickey Barnes (Pattinson), an expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the frozen world of Niflheim.
Whenever there is a mission that is too dangerous, even suicidal, the crew turns to Mickey. After an iteration dies, a new body regenerates with most of its memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only open colonial position when he accepted it.
Written and directed by Bong Joon Ho, “Mickey 17” stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, along with Oscar nominees Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
The film is produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner (Oscar winners for Moonlight and 12 Years a Slave), Bong Joon Ho and Dooho Choi. It is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. Executive producers are Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd and Marianne Jenkins.
The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and It will be released in theaters in Latin America starting March 6, 2025.
