World Cup in Antholz
No podium for German biathletes – Norwegian Bö wins
The German biathletes are just spectators again. There are others on the podium in Antholz.
The German biathletes clearly missed the podium places again in the last sprint before the World Championships. Philipp Horn finished eleventh best German over the 10 kilometers at the World Cup in Antholz, but after two penalty laps he was 39.3 seconds behind the victorious Norwegian Tarjei Bö. The 36-year-old pushed his teammate Sturla Holm Laegreid (1 mistake) into second place by 0.4 seconds. The Italian Tommaso Giacomel came third in his home race (2 errors/+ 2.6 seconds).
At least Horn, who was not in the World Cup squad in Ruhpolding, provided a small sign of respect with the fourth-best running time. “That’s absolutely fantastic, the running was outstanding. If I score, I’m able to run in front,” said the 30-year-old and added: “There was so much more possible.”
Overall, the DSV ski hunters revealed their problem, which has been going on throughout the entire season: In the end, there were a total of 18 missed shots in the German statistics. Only Philipp Nawrath (2 errors/+52 seconds) made it into the top 20 from the German sextet in 15th place.
