Knorr fit again and “ready for the quarter-finals”
German handball players have been worried about the health of playmaker Juri Knorr for several days. There is good news two days before the quarter-final against Portugal.
Playmaker Juri Knorr, who was recently injured, is fit for the German handball team’s World Cup quarter-finals against Portugal. “The days have been good for me. I’m doing quite well so far. We did another blood test yesterday, the values are fine. I’m ready for the quarter-finals, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. It’s crazy,” said Knorr the “Schleswig-Holsteinische Zeitungsverlag (sh:z)”.
On Monday morning, Knorr flew from Hamburg to Oslo. On Wednesday (8.30 p.m./ARD and Sportdeutschland.TV) the German selection will face Portugal in the Norwegian capital.
Chatton: We are in good spirits
Knorr had missed the final main round victories against Italy and Tunisia and returned to Germany for examinations. According to media reports, the 24-year-old is said to have complained of breathing problems and chest pain.
Knorr’s effort against the southern Europeans on Wednesday would be immensely important for the DHB selection. The Portuguese are undefeated in this tournament so far and have left medal contenders like Spain and Sweden behind them.
“We are in good spirits that we have more players to choose from on Wednesday than last,” said team manager Benjamin Chatton, but overall he remained tight-lipped about Knorr: “Which doesn’t answer the question that he is fit to play.”
