Francesco Friedrich and Laura Nolte get EM titles in the bob
After second place, Francesco Friedrich has an invoice – and wins. Laura Nolte also fetches an EM title.
Francesco Friedrich won his seventh European title in the two-way bob. The two-time double Olympic champion in Lillehammer won with a slide-in Alexander Schüller with a 0.14 second lead ahead of Johannes Lochner from Berchtesgaden, who drove with Georg Fleischhauer. The European Championship victory also counted as a World Cup victory in Lillehammer.
“That was my secret goal. We lacked the victory here, we got second here last year. That’s why we really wanted to win here in two,” said the 34-year-old record world champion from Pirna. The beaten Lochner struggled only minimally: “The deficit can be explained, it was clearly on the train for me. The start times were great, the material is also running.”
Second EM title for Nolte
World champion Laura Nolte won EM gold in Monobob. For the two-man Olympic champion, it was the second European Championship title after 2023 in Altenberg. The 26-year-old from BSC Winterberg presented the best time in the first run and made minimal driving errors in the second round.
The Lisa Buckwitz of the BRC Thuringia, which leads to the World Cup, was still in third behind the Swiss Melanie Hasler. “It’s okay, I slipped a little in the first run. The others probably found something else why they suddenly became in the monobob so quickly,” said Buckwitz regarding the settings at the unit bob. Wiesbadener Kim Kalicki came in EM-Platz fifth.
