According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), In Argentina, 16 million tons of food are lost per year, which represents 12.5% of agri -food production, a reality that has economic and environmental impacts.

Given this problem, Cheaof, a Mexican startup founded in 2020, arrives in Argentina with its innovative mobile food rescue application. With plans to add various shops and expand its network of alliances in the future, the app allows supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and food businesses to offer their surpluses suitable for consumption through “surprise packages” (initially in the fruits categories and vegetables, dairy, cheeses and cold cuts, and bakery), which users can acquire with discounts from 50%, thus avoiding the waste of food in good condition.
With presence in 24 Mexican cities and 14 regions of Chile since October 2023, Cheaof with all its operation, and in both countries, has rescued more than 5,500 tons of food, that is, more than 5.5 million kg of food and avoided the issuance of more than 14,200,000 kg of CO2. Food waste is associated with GHG generation (greenhouse gases), which is a consequence of their degradation when discarded. With each rescued package, Cheaof and its allies contribute directly to avoid these emissions. In addition, it has generated a positive impact by optimizing the resources used in the production of these foods.
