Serious fall overshadow podium from Friday
The Norwegian Thea Minyan Bjoerseth goes to the second ski jumping round in Ljubno as the leader. But there she falls heavily.
The World Cup ski jumping in Ljubno in Slovenian and second place from Selina Freitag overshadfully overshaded a serious fall of Thea Minyan Bjoerseth. The clearly leading Norwegian Bjoerseth teased in the second round when landing and overturned several times. It remained in the ski jump and was medical care. After the first diagnoses, she wore painful injuries to the left knee and left elbows.
After several minutes, the 21-year-old was removed and driven to the hospital. “Thea has pain in her left elbow and her left knee. We are on the way to Ljubljana, where an X -ray is to be taken in the hospital,” said national coach Christian Meyer. “Then we hope to be able to return to Norway to have an MRI examination carried out.”
Bjoernseth was on a victory course after ski jump record
Bjoernseth jumped to 97 meters in the first round, as far as no woman in Ljubno. In the second attempt, she got up at 94.5 meters, which would have been enough to win. The fall gave her much fewer points, but was still third.
Friday medal candidate at World Cup
The Oberwiesenthaler Selina Freitag became second. With 89 and 94.5 meters, their ambitions underpinned a World Cup medal in Trondheim from February 26th. The winner was the Slovenin Nika Prevc, who flew 90.5 and 95 meters and thus expanded her leadership in the overall World Cup.
Katharina Schmid improved from ninth to seventh place with a strong second jump. Luisa Görlich celebrated an excellent comeback less than a year after her cruciate ligament rupture.
