Challenger Norris after a power failure in the Top desert
Mechanics with flashlights: There is a power failure on the first day. The vice world champion cannot be broken. And what does the world champion do?
The challenger Lando Norris did not let a power failure not stopped and, at the first showdown before the Formula 1 season start, world champion Max Verstappen. The Briton made the fastest round at the start of the three -day test drives on the course in the Sakhir desert. The 25 -year -old vice world champion put his British compatriot George Russell in second place.
The 27-year-old was 0.157 seconds slower in the new Mercedes as Norris in the new McLaren. Third in Max Verstappen, who, like Norris and Russell, was affected in the afternoon and thus also affected by a power failure on the route. This had led to an interruption so that the unit was extended by an hour.
The defending champion and four -time world champion lacked 0.244 seconds in the Red Bull. Fourth, Charles Leclerc (0.448), who had taken over the new Ferrari from his new team -mate Lewis Hamilton after the lunch break.
Teenager Antonelli the fastest in the morning
The 40 -year -old record champion from England did not get beyond the 13th place in the final statement. Hamilton had a gap of almost one and a half seconds to the top and almost a second on his Monegassian stable colleague.
In the morning after the first tests and hours of Russell’s new and just 18 -year -old teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli had cited the list of results. The Italian had referred the New Zealand Red Bull driver Liam Lawson to second place, in third place Alexander Albon had made it in Williams.
However, times and placements on the test days are only very limited. The teams and drivers complete different programs. In addition, the conditions change during the day, although it was cooler than expected overall.
Season start on March 16 in Melbourne
Nico Hülkenberg, who has been cleaning again since this year and thus the designated Audi team (from 2026), took 18th place among the 20 drivers. According to the “Motorsport Magazine”, the native of Rhineland had flown a particle in the eye, so that he had to end his morning use half an hour earlier. Nothing should stand in the way of his trips on Thursday.
The tests continue this Thursday and Friday. The season starts on March 16 with the Grand Prix of Bahrain and goes over a total of 24 Grand Prix. Since the rules have hardly changed and the teams are strongly based on the models of the past season, a closely competitive race for the World Cup is expected.
