Ski jumper Wellinger fetches World Cup silver from the normal hill
This success comes out of nowhere: After weeks of crisis, Olympic champion Wellinger wm silver fetches in Trondheim. Karl Geiger just scares past a medal.
Andreas Wellinger ended his week-long shape on time at the highlight of the season and won the silver medal at the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim. The 29 -year -old Bayer jumped from the normal hill 106.5 and 104.5 meters and only had to surrender to the Norwegian Marius Lindvik. Jan Hörl from Austria got bronze.
In the high-class competition, the world-class ski jumpers defied the adverse conditions with constant rain and sometimes violent wind. Karl Geiger made fourth place as the second best German. Before the World Cup singles in Norway, the team of national coach Stefan Horngacher had had no chance in all competitions for around two months.
After the first single in the second World Cup week, there are three further decisions on the large hill for the first singles. On Wednesday (4:00 p.m.) the mixed is waiting – the next day the team jumping is on the program. Finally, the single world champion is sought by the large ski jump on Saturday.
