World Cup in Nove Mesto
Biathlete Preuss only 15 – competitor picks up
After the World Cup there is ahead of the overall World Cup: Franziska Preuss loses ground in the fight for yellow jersey. No Germans make it onto the podium. A Norwegian ends her time of suffering.
Biathlete Franziska Preuss has lost important points in the fight for the first win of the overall World Cup. After her sensational World Cup with four medals, the 30-year-old had to be satisfied with 15th place at the World Cup in the Czech Nove Mesto in the sprint. The persecution world champion shot and after 7.5 kilometers 54.1 seconds behind the victorious Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Teldrevold.
“I am disappointed, I wouldn’t have had a chance even flawlessly. Somehow the worm was in it,” said Preuss in the ARD and added. “I actually didn’t feel so wrong on the track, but somehow we’ll get pretty nice today.” At the World Cup last year in Nove Mesto, the German team had major material problems in similarly warm weather conditions.
For Prussia it was the most third -party placement of winter. And because numerous competitors placed in front of her, chaser Lou JeanMonnot made some points in the fight for the yellow jersey. The 26-year-old French woman became fourth and is only 63 points behind; Before that it had been 92.
The best German ski hunter was Selina Grotian. The 20-year-old had to go to the penalty round like Prussia and ended up in tenth place (+47.2 seconds). “I am very satisfied, especially with my lying shooting. I have had big problems in the past few weeks,” said Grotian. Like Preuss in the persecution on Saturday (5:40 p.m./ARD and Eurosport), she wants to attack the top ranks.
For Tangrevold, who had a smaller intervention on the heart during the season and had to process a largely disappointing World Cup, it was a great comeback on the podium. She referred world champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (1 error/+15.1 seconds) and her French teammate Julia Simon (0/+20.9 seconds) to the other places.
Due to the too warm temperatures, the starting order was changed on Thursday, as with the men’s sprint on Thursday, so that the strongest runners were placed differently than usual in the front start group. Prussia went to the trail as the third. Until the last of her ten shots, she was perfect in the race. Then the persecution world champion kept paused, but the cartridge still set just next to it and had to run 150 extra meters. “The mistake annoys me, I started thinking,” said Preuss.
German ski hunters far back
The men (2:55 p.m./ARD and Eurosport) are only about cosmetic results. As the first of the German sextet, Justus Strelow starts the race as 19th with a gap of 1:12 minutes to sprint winner Emilia Jacquelin from France.
