Geiger fetches World Cup bronze in the Nordic combination

Finally, Vinzenz Geiger wins his fourth medal at the World Cup in Norway. The Oberstdorfer is happy about bronze. The winner has already been determined after jumping.

Vinzenz Geiger won his fourth medal at the World Championships in the Nordic combination. The 27-year-old was happy after a strong cross-country performance via bronze. In the final competition, Geiger only had to give up the sovereign Norwegian winner Jarl Magnus Riiber and his compatriot Jörgen Graabak.

Geiger had already won gold with the team on Friday. He also takes silver from the mixed team and bronze from the first individual from Trondheim. Geiger was thus involved in all four medals of the German team. At the past World Cup there were four silver for Germany.

Riiber wins his third title in Trondheim

The fight for gold was decided by the Großchanze after ski jumping. Riiber started in the ten -kilometer cross -country race after a set to 139 meters with a lead of 1:14 minutes. So it was all about the other podium places. Six athletes fought a gripping race – also because the violinist famos, which went into the race as ninth, opened up.

For Riiber it was the third gold in his farewell World Cup in front of a home backdrop. The 27-year-old ended his career after this season due to a chronic bowel disease. The Nordic combination thus loses its most formative athletes in recent years. “There are no discussions, it is the best of all time,” said Olympic champion Geiger.
