Ski jumper Raimund becomes seventh – gold to Prevc
The German ski jumpers leave Norway without another medal. In the victory of the Slovenia Prevc, a suit debate overshadows the World Cup jumping.
The German ski jumpers ended the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim without further medal. Philipp Raimund took seventh place in the single hill. 137.5 and 133 meters were not enough for a podium. For Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger (10th), Karl Geiger (23rd) and Pius Paschke (30th), things went much worse in the Granasen Skienter. The trio was beaten after the first round.
Gold won in the last ski jumping decision of these title fights Domen Prevc from Slovenia ahead of Marius Lindvik from Norway and Austria’s Jan Hörl. The jumping was overshadowed by a protest: Austria, Slovenia and Poland had called for the disqualification of the Norwegians due to an anonymous suit videos.
Sobering season conclusion
It has been the worst World Cup record for the ski jumper in twelve years. Wellinger surprised with silver in the normal hill. But in the following three competitions – including mixed – there was no further medal. Coupled with the big disappointment on the four-hill tour, winter for the jumpers of national coach Stefan Horngacher will end up soberly. Paschke had won five victories in a row in the first phase of the season.
