Great price in Shanghai
Norris in Formula 1 training in China clearly before Verstappen
Lando Norris also dominates in China at the start. After its opening victory in Australia, the Briton turns the fastest round again. World champion Max Verstappen has to make up for a lot of gap.
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen started with some problems in the second race weekend of the season in China. The 27-year-old Dutch steered his Red Bull in the only free training session before the Grand Prix in Shanghai in 16th place. The fastest round was turning the Lando Norris World Cup leader in the McLaren, which landed well in front of Verstappen with 1.780 seconds. However, defending champion Verstappen did not finish his fastest round in the end.
Behind the 25 -year -old Norris, who won in Australia at the start of the season last Sunday, Charles Leclerc finished second with a second behind in Ferrari. Oscar Piatri finished third in the second McLaren. Surprisingly, the Rhinelander Nico Hülkenberg made it to sixth place.
Overheat tires cause problems
On the completely newly paved slope, some drivers complained early on blistering on the left front tire as a result of overheating. This bike is particularly heavily burdened in Shanghai because of the many fast right curves. Further problems could cause further problems over the course of the weekend.
The first sprint weekend of the new season takes place in China. In the short race over 100 kilometers on Saturday (4:00 a.m.), Norris has to defend his narrow World Cup lead of seven points ahead of Verstappen. The main race will take place on Sunday (8:00 a.m./RTL and Sky). Verstappen won the Grand Prix in front of Norris last year.
