DFB Cup
Against record backdrop: Footballers of Werder Bremen Siegen at HSV
The semi-finals in the women’s DFB Cup took place in the sold-out folk park stadium in Hamburg. Despite a long outnumber, Werder Bremen ultimately prevailed.
Before the record backdrop of 57,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksparkstadion, the footballers of Werder Bremen celebrated the finals of the DFB Cup. The green-white Bundesliga club won 3: 1 (1: 1, 0: 0) after extra time in the gripping Nord derby. In the final, the Hanseates meet FC Bayern Munich.
With a serious mistake by HSV goalkeeper Inga Schuldt, Sophie Weidauer (81st minute) scored the 1-0 and the new Bremen leadership in extra time (117th). Verena again (120.+1) increased to 3: 1.
HSV captain Sarah Stöckmann (89th) had balanced late and brought the club into extra time after a dramatic final phase. Werder defense player Saskia Matheis (54th) had seen the yellow-red card.
