Wück appoints Berger to number 1 for EM

There are two more international blocks in the Nations League, then the DFB women go towards the EM. Chief coach Christian Wück makes a decision in the T-question.

Olympic heroine Ann-Katrin Berger is said to appear at the European Football Championships in Switzerland as a trivial goalkeeper. This was announced by national coach Christian Wück in a media round. He had agreed with the 34-year-old “that she will go to the European Championship as number 1. Say, from now on, gets a game time,” said Wück before the National League games on April 4th and 8th against Scotland. “We are doing the next green hook in the discussions.”

The 51-year-old Wück had previously used both Berger from the US Club NJ/NY Gotham FC as well as Stina Johannes von Eintracht Frankfurt, Ena Mahmutovic from FC Bayern and Sophia Winkler from SGS Essen in his tenure after the summer games in France. However, Winkler has contracted a cruciate ligament tear and is out of the question for the European Championship.

Goalkeepers “didn’t remain flawless”

“Anyone who had the possibilities did well, but did not remain flawless,” said Wück about the candidates. He especially said to Berger: “She radiates the security where a young goalkeeper may take time for more.”

In addition to Rafaela Borggräfe (SC Freiburg), Berger and Johannes are also nominated for the games against Scotland, Mahmutovic is only available on call. The Munich woman Maria Luisa Grohs, who recently gave her comeback after surviving cancer, could intervene in the race for a squad square.

The DFB women will meet on the team from the island on April 4 (8:45 p.m./ZDF) in Dundee and on April 8 (5.45 p.m./ARD and Kika) in Wolfsburg. The injured Rebecca Knaak by Manchester City and Kathrin Hendrich from VfL Wolfsburg are not in the contingent. Most recently, the selection of the Olympic third in the Netherlands had played 2-2 and won 4: 1 against Austria.

Bavaria’s kett nominated for the first time

For the first time in the squad, Franziska Kett (FC Bayern), club colleague Sydney Lohmann returns to the 23-member squad, who is led by captain Giulia Gwinn (also Munich). “We have been looking at Franziska Kett and her development for a long time. She brings a very good dynamic and explosiveness with him,” said Wück about the 20 -year -old attacker.

In addition to Lohmann, Paulina Krumbiegel (Juventus Turin) and Cora Zicai (SC Freiburg) are also part of the squad after they had not been taken into account recently. Official player Lohmann recommended with strong performances with the German champion.

At Munich’s Lena Oberdorf, in the past a central figure in German midfield, Wück has great hopes that the 23-year-old will be fit for the European Championship after her cruciate ligament rupture. “With OBI it is just the case that the time component could actually fit,” said the former Bundesliga professional. “But you have to wait and see how the regeneration works, how the structure works. Of course, I hope that you can play one or the other game for FC Bayern before the European Championship.”

The Nations League is an important competition for Wück to find its team for the European Championship in Switzerland in July. On May 30th in Bremen we will again be against the Netherlands, on June 3 to Austria.
