FC Bayern needs the money from the Champions League

FC Bayern will compete against the Italian champion Inter Milan on Tuesday evening in the quarter -finals of the Champions League. The first leg rises in the local Allianz Arena, and the second leg in Milan will follow next week. Financially, the season in the premier class has already paid off for the German record winner. According to the German press agency, the club has collected over 100 million euros in premiums.

In addition, there are the audience revenue from the seven home games so far, the quarter-final first leg in Munich-Fröttmaning on Tuesday evening. The sum amounts to a double-digit million amount. If Bayern reaches the semi -finals, another home game (against FC Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund) and another 15 million euros in premium will be added. If Bayern actually win the Champions League, there are a whopping 25 million on top (18.5 million euros for reaching the final). In summer, strong income from participating in the club World Cup in the USA waves.

The prospects for FC Bayern are therefore first class, but the millions of income are necessary.

The times when the big club from Säbener Straße could afford the most transfers by grip on the legendary fixed deposit account solely. At the anniversary celebration in March, honorary president Uli Hoeneß already warned that the time deposit account had become smaller. And that has consequences: FC Bayern has to pay a little attention to the money. At the beginning of the season, the requirement to sports director Max Eberl was to save money. The fact that Thomas Müller does not receive a new contract also has to do with financial planning (talking about austerity measures might be a little exaggerated).

With Müller, a large earner is deleted from the list of salarys. This creates opportunities for the commitment of fresh forces. Or for contractual extensions of important exceptional professionals like Leroy Sané. With important players like Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich, the record champion has already completed expensive extensions, now negotiates Eberl with Sané, who would like to stay in Munich. But a professional from the quality class of a Sané is very expensive. Seen in this way, Müller’s departure Sané (and FC Bayern) can use.

Sané’s skills and the rising form curve of the national player are estimated in Munich: “We are pleased that Leroy is so good in shape, we need that when a Jamal Musiala fails,” said sports director Max Eberl after the recent 3-1 league victory in Augsburg, where Sané had hit again. “Leroy does not need to show us in individual games how valuable he is,” Eberl noted with a view to the club’s Sané plans.
