Bayer boss Carro: Wirtz and Alonso stay in Leverkusen
Star player Florian Wirtz and his trainer Xabi Alonso are always associated with other clubs. Now Leverkusen’s club boss is expressed.
Exceptional footballer Florian Wirtz and the courted coach Xabi Alonso will remain at Bayer Leverkusen in the coming season. Nobody from FC Bayern Munich reported on Wirtz, managing director Fernando Carro said before the Leverkusener against Union Berlin before the Bundesliga game at Sky. There is a “very high probability” that the 21-year-old international will stay with Bayer even after the ongoing season. “He has a contract,” emphasized Carro with reference to the contract until 2027.
In financial terms, there is “no pain limit,” said Carro. “It may also be that a club comes where the Flo does not want to go,” added the Spaniard. Wirtz, who was back in the squad against Union for the first time after a five -week injury break, had recently been mentioned as a desired player of Bayern Munich.
However, Uli Hoeneß had recently explained that the record champion did not have enough money for a landlord’s obligation. “We need a special fund for his transfer, like the federal government. Therefore, this is not an issue at the moment,” said the Bavaria Honorary President in the “Welt am Sonntag”.
Bayer is planning with Alonso next season
Carro firmly calculates the whereabouts with coach Alonso, who was repeatedly brought up as a possible successor to Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. “He still has a contract with us, he feels comfortable here. First of all, we go out of it and we are planning the next season with him, preparation, games, squad …”, said the Leverkusen managing director.
However, he also admitted that because of the coaching discussions, he did not fit the 0: 3 of Real Madrid in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League at Arsenal. “I would have been happy if Madrid had won the house and the coaching position at Madrid was fixed. It is normal in football that if a team like Real Madrid in the quarter-finals loses 3-0 against Arsenal that the rumor mill would go up. I would rather have saved myself,” said the 60-year-old.
