Formula 1: How is Alpine’s history in Saudi Arabia?

Since its incorporation into the calendar in 2021, the Saudi Arabia Grand Formula 1. Disputed in the street circuit of Jeddah And under an imposing night frame, the Argentine team Franco Colapintcurrent reserve pilot, add good results in the country.

Next, a review of Alpine’s performance in the different editions of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix:

2021 – An encouraging start

The first edition in Jeddah was one of the best for Alpine. The French Esteban Ocon wore a solid performance that left him on the edge of the podium. It was fourth, behind the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and the Finn Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), adding 12 points.

On the contrary, Spanish Fernando Alonsowho shared team with Ocon, ended in the thirteenth position, without providing units.

2022 – Ocon firm, Alonso with problems

On his second visit to Saudi Arabia, the team repeated a solid partial performance. Ocon added againthis time with a sixth place that gave 8 points to the team. However, Alonso did not complete the race for problems in his car after a fight with his teammate.

At the top of the podium he repeated Verstappen, while the Monegasco Charles Leclerc and the Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr., both from Ferrari, completed the top three.

2023 – Double presence at the points

The third chapter in Jeddah was one of the most positive for Alpine, since both pilots managed to add points. The French Pierre Gasly and Ocon finished within the top 10contributing 6 points in total for the French team.

On that occasion, Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez took the victory, followed by Verstappen and an amazing Alonso, already with Aston Martin.

2024 – Disappointing result

Last year, Ocon was the only Alpine to cross the goal, ending in a distant fifteration place, while Gasly had to leave ending last. The race was dominated by Verstappen, accompanied on the podium by his partner “Checo” Pérez and Leclerc.

With a fairly positive history, Alpine arrives at the Grandbia of Saudi Arabia with the renewed illusion, especially in a season where the results are just beginning to accompany the hand of Gasly, which added six points at the end of seventh in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, Colapinto trains in the French team simulator hoping to occupy the Australian seat Jack Doohan who, currently, failed to reap good results in the highest category of motor racing.

Formula 1 will return this weekend with next Sunday’s race at the Jeddah circuit at 14 (Argentine time).
