One of the most renowned and traditional sports cars returns to the Argentine market. With a new front, but with all the classic dynamism and sportiness expected in an M, BMW Group Argentina announced the launch of the new BMW M3 Competition sedan to expand its offering of higher performance vehicles.
Like its coupe brother, the BMW M4 Competition Coupé, this top version of the BMW M3 is capable of delivering 510 HP of power and 650 Nm of torque between 2,750 and 5,500 rpm, thanks to the BMW M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine. line and 3.0 liters, arranged longitudinally to transmit all traction to the rear axle. In association with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport box and paddles on the steering wheel, the BMW M3 Competition Sedan manages to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a final speed of 290 km/h (electronically limited).
“The BMW M3 represents the core of BMW M. With a sedan body and four doors, it combines unmistakable performance optimized for the track with ease for everyday use, the formula that made this model famous. Its arrival means the expansion of this subbrand’s products in Argentina, after the successful arrival of the BMW M4 Competition in September. In addition, this vehicle becomes the first to include BMW ConnectedDrive services in Argentina, which we will continue to communicate in the coming weeks,” he commented. In turn, Leandro Larregina, Sales and Network Development Manager of BMW and MINI, states that “the BMW M3 Competition takes advantage of a large part of the development of the BMW M4 GT3 that competes in different international championships. It also offers specific equipment for sporty driving, such as its carbon fiber seats, the M sports differential, the adaptive chassis and the M Driver’s Package and M Drive Professional packages, which increase its maximum speed and allow traction control to be configured up to 10 different levels, for example. Without a doubt it sums up all the current mechanical and technological development capacity of BMW M.”
Coming from Germany, the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan is already sold at dealerships in the official network for US$244,900, with a three-year warranty or 200,000 kilometers.
Inline six-cylinder with instant power and high rpm, true to BMW M style
The powertrain of the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan combines the high revs for which M models are famous with the latest version of M TwinPower Turbo technology. This system provides two turbos that are connected to a specific intake and a direct injection system that works with a maximum pressure of 350 bars. In this way, instant power and torque delivery is generated, which is maintained without interruption also in the highest rev ranges, since the BMW M3 Competition Sedan offers its maximum torque of 650 Nm from 2,750 to 5,500 rpm. Its maximum power is 510 HP and is available at 6,250 rpm, while the engine’s redline reaches 7,200 rpm.
On the other hand, the model has a specific exhaust system, with electronically controlled valves, which provides a fascinating soundtrack. Its cooling system (which guarantees maintaining the optimal temperature in daily driving and on the track) has, among other elements, an additional engine oil radiator and its own cooler for the transmission lubricant. Furthermore, the oil pan has two separate chambers and an integrated suction channel, which ensures a reliable oil supply even during strong lateral and longitudinal accelerations.
The eight-speed Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic allows automatic and manual gear changes using the M selector or steering wheel paddles. Its characteristics are adjusted using the Drivelogic button, through which the driver can access three different configurations in both automatic and manual modes.
M-specific chassis with increased rigidity
The high torsional rigidity of the assembly is a key factor in providing the combination of dynamism and precision for which BMW M cars are renowned. This is achieved thanks to a specific package of reinforcements in the engine compartment and the subframe of both axles, which allow maintain control and that the steering behavior remains neutral, even at the limit.
The high performance of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan is complemented by features such as its adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, M carbon brakes (technology inspired by competition), the M sport differential, the M Drivers Package with speed limitation of 290 km/h. h and M Dynamic Mode, a more permissive regulation of stability and traction controls to achieve controlled drifts and better times on road courses.
Design that enhances emotions
The distinctive aesthetics of the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan reflect its high performance and exciting driving experience. In this sedan, the accessories of the M exterior package are harmoniously integrated into a modern design language, where the large specific grille, inaugurated at the launch of the 4 Series, has an impact, with a double vertical kidney shape and horizontal bars, which will only be available in the M version of the Series 3. Also notable are the sculpted fenders with M air vents, the prominent side spoiler, the carbon fiber reinforced polymer roof, the M forged wheels with 19” double spokes on the front axle and 20 ” at the rear, the two pairs of exhaust outlets and the carbon rear spoiler, among other elements made of this material.
Inside, the ergonomic design of the imposing cabin ensures that the driver focuses on driving. The M sport bucket seats, electronically adjustable (with memory) and upholstered in fine-grain Merino leather, provide functionality for tight track driving and comfort for long journeys. These carbon front seats also offer heating and allow part of the headrests to be removed to provide more space for the helmet, in case of sports use. Its structure inspired by racing cars also allows the use of competition belts with multiple anchors.
On the other hand, the M buttons, located on both the steering wheel and the control panel, allow you to store and instantly recall two personalized tuning configurations (engine, chassis, steering, brakes, gear changes and parameters can be adjusted). assists), to quickly provide a driving experience appropriate to the situation, beyond the preset M modes (Road, Sport and Track).
When looking for comfort and entertainment, elements such as the 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, the wireless charger, the three-zone climate control with solar and fog sensors and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which integrates the digital dashboard into a single screen, stand out. 12.3” and the 14.9” central display, completely configurable and with connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Likewise, to facilitate driving on streets and routes, it has Driving Assistant Professional, a system of cameras and radar that intervene in driving intelligently and avoid risky situations.
Safety and driving assistance
In this section, the front and side airbags for the driver and passenger stand out along with the head airbags integrated into the roof frame, the dynamic stability controls (DSC) and traction control (DTC), the BMW laser LED light (with greater projection and efficiency energy) self-adaptive with anti-dazzle high beam assistant, the Head-Up Display with projection on the windshield of relevant information such as speed and navigation directions, front and rear parking sensors with emergency braking function, mirrors interior and left exterior mirrors with anti-dazzle adjustment, the collision sensor with active protection, tire pressure monitoring with puncture warning and the active differential, among other devices.
