Richard Gadd, creator of ‘Baby Reindeer,’ signs an exclusive deal with Netflix

The news comes after the series won six Emmy Awards, including Best Limited Series.

After winning six Emmy Awards for Baby Reindeer of Netflixthe creator, executive producer, writer and star of the limited series, Richard Gaddis expanding its relationship with the streaming platform with a multi-year, first-look scripted series deal.

I am beyond excited to continue my creative journey with Netflix“They took a chance on me when I hadn’t yet proven myself in television, and for that I will always be grateful,” Gadd said in a statement. “I look forward to the next few years of coming up with ideas for Netflix with Ted, Bela, Anne, Peter and all the amazing people who work at the company.”

The news of the expanded partnership was revealed by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos during the Royal Television Society (RTS) convention in London.

Baby Reindeer and the Emmys

Based on the award-winning Edinburgh Fringe hit one-man show, Reindeer Baby follows comedian Donny Dunn’s (Gadd) twisted relationship with his stalker and the impact it has on him as he is eventually forced to confront deeply buried trauma. In addition to Gadd, the drama stars Jessica Gunning like Martha, Nava Mau like Teri and Tom Goodman-Hill like Darrien.

Following its global premiere, the show spent eight weeks in the Global Top 10 (in English) and led the Top 10 in 92 countries.

The six Emmy Awards the series has won include Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Writing in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, and Outstanding Cinematography in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

The show also won the award for best limited series at this year’s inaugural Gotham TV Awards.
