The origin of Valentine’s Day every February 14
The history of Valentine is surrounded by mystery and various legends. The most popular version relates it to a Christian priest of the third century in Rome. As noted, the Emperor Claudio II had banned marriages among young peoplesince he considered that the single were better soldiers. Valentín challenged this order and made weddings in secret, which cost him to be imprisoned and executed on February 14, 270. In his honor, the Catholic Church established this date as Valentine’s Day.
Another version suggests that Valentine’s Day helped Christians persecuted by the Roman Empirewhich also led him to be arrested. During his captivity, it is said that he fell in love with his jailer’s daughter and sent him a signed letter “of your Valentine” before being executed, which would have given rise to the tradition of sending love messages on this date.
